I am a Contemporary Romance/Erotica writer, a short story author, and am currently working on a second novel which I hope to have on Amazon by Summer of 2016. I took to writing fiction a few years ago while my husband was on yet another six-month deployment. But I’ve had a deep love for the written word since I was a toddler; reading everything I could get my hands on and always writing something in fancy journals wth lovely pens.

I am a stay-at-home-mom of a two and a half year old little girl, a six-year old boxer, and an eight-year old lab/whippet mix. The hubs and I just celebrated our eleven-year wedding anniversary.

Before we had our kiddo, I was veterinary technician and receptionist. It was such a rewarding job (spiritually… never ever financially) but we decided working to pay for day care was–quite frankly–asinine. So when we had our kiddo, I stayed home.

Now there’s a difference between being a stay-at-home-mom and simply being a house troll.  A house troll is a person who stays at home but doesn’t clean the house, lives in sweatpants, meals consist of microwaved processed garbage, and has no idea what the monthly budget is.

I am not a house troll. Sure it would be easier but I firmly believe sweatpants are the root of all evil.

The very term “stay-at-home-mom” doesn’t even begin to cover it, and “homemaker” is even more vague. What I’d like really like to put in the occupation box is; wife/writer/mother/chef/maid/personal assistant/financial manager/daycare attendant/naughty mistress.

Oh you caught that last one huh? That one might actually be one of the most important jobs. Seriously, you want to know the secret to a long any happy marriage? It’s simple: Ladies, always be your husband’s mistress. And guys, always be your wife’s boyfriend.

But I digress. That may actually be a future post, who knows.

It’s said everyone should have three hobbies; one to make you money, one to keep you in shape, and one for a creative outlet. I actually have a couple of hobbies but they all fall into the creative category; reading, writing, cooking, Pinterest surfing, and interior decorating or “beautifying and accessorizing” as my mother says. (Hi Mom!)

I’ve got the creative one in writing and I’ve started blogging so I’m working on a hobby that could make money–eventually. But I have yet to find a hobby that keeps me in shape. I’m just not a fan of sweat, and treadmills–the machine or repeating the same day/thing over and over.

What I am a fan of are great books, animals (more so than 99% of people, sorry but it’s the truth), Moscatos and Pinot Noirs, sugary goodness I have no business eating, and pirating treasure–aka bargain hunting.

Most little girls loved Cinderella or Snow White or even Sleeping Beauty. Personally, I thought they all were vapid and useless. Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, and Aladdin were much more useful. Why?

Because Belle was a bookworm (like me) that ends up with a castle sized library; Ariel had a whole cave of nifty treasures and was a bit on the rebellious side (also like me); and Jasmine had a pet tiger and wasn’t the least bit afraid of speaking her mind and getting her way (again just like me, although this last one is biting me in the ass with my little girl).

Lets see we’ve covered occupation, hobbies, likes and dis-likes, and personality traits. What’s left? Well a lot actually. But there’s two rules to success. First, never tell all of what you know. And second …

So for now, I’ll leave you with a couple of quotes that really speak to me.

  • “Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick and pull yourself together.”                 – Elizabeth Taylor
  • “This too shall pass.” – Ancient proverb
  •   “It’s none of their business that you have to learn how to write. Let them think you were born that way.” – Ernest Hemingway
